Robbie G. is an artisan in the most traditional sense of the word – a craftsman of sonic landscapes.
For 14 years he has been a mediator for creative people with big ideas.
His gregarious nature and thoughtful pursuit of making music makes him an ideal producer and collaborator.
With Modern Whale he is exploring his own creativity and finally putting the music inside of him first.
His co-writing work includes the No.1 Billboard Christian/Hot AC hit “Beyond This World” by Shonlock.
He has produced and co-written for multi-platinum act The Veronicas and synch darlings Oh Honey. Robbie has recently had releases with current up and comers Native Sun and Stevie B. Wolf. Robbie has co-written and produced countless tracks with long-time collaborator Scott Harris
(Chainsmokers, Shawn Mendes).
“It’s always magic when we get together and it never feels like we’ve spent anytime apart”
~There’s nothing more comfortable than good friends creating together, says Harris~
A record producer and published songwriter, Rob is also a seasoned lead guitarist and bass player. His ability to strengthen any musical ensemble has afforded him a spot alongside artists opening for legends like Buddy Guy, BB King, Van Halen and Joss Stone.
He was even invited on stage to play with the legendary Derek Trucks after impressing him while on tour with Ryan Shaw.
Robbie’s other creative projects include co-writing the theme song for the Cartoon Network series The Life and Times of Juniper Lee alongside Stewart Copeland as well as original content for the likes of :
Victoria’s Secret, ESPN, Electronic Arts and plenty more.
In 2015, Robbie lost one of his biggest supporters, his dad. Remembering what was important to him led him back to the path of creating for himself. Now Robbie is pouring his experience, practice and skill gained from his wealth of collaborations into his own project,
To round out the lineup for live performance, Robbie has added bassist Rocky Russo and drummer Kerel Lacy. Five previous Modern Whale singles have been released since 2017 to significant acclaim, Spotify & Vevo curated playlists as well as blog love from the likes of Hype Machine.
What started out as more rock oriented, has become a cross between electro pop and indie pop and is described by Robbie as now being somewhere “between Phoenix and the Postal Service.”
