I’m Mick Fletcher, I’ve been a fan of punk music ever since discovering the new excting genre whilst at school back in 1977. I’d always loved making mixtapes for friends but noticed a decreasing number of them realised great punk music was still being released. It seemed everyone I knew thought punk had gone away decades ago. One Christmas, mainly out of boredom, I started the Just Some Punk Songs blog (http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/). I thought it would last the length of the holiday season and go unnoticed and initially it pretty much did go unnoticed. But I enjoyed adding a different song every day so I persisted and people started visiting (553,189 viewers and counting). It concentrates on new music and hopefully gets bands a bit of much needed exposure. A couple of years ago I was asked if I wanted to host a show on the new Global Punk Radio and though it was something I’d never considered I said yes and I’m still broadcasting an hour of new punk music every week. It’s rough around the edges but hopefully my love of music shines through. I’m based in Chorley, England and more than happy to be playing my modern day “mixtapes” to a worldwide audience. If you like what you hear on the shows, check out the bands.
